I began this line of Colby Creations Denim Quilts in 1991 as and effort to raise funds for our local High School Girls Basketball Team whose existence was threatened because of a cut in funding. That winter I produced and donated 12 twin to queen size quilts. Each winter I now make from 6 to 12 new quilts. My children, my nephews, and High School graduates have been the recipients of many of these. Some of them have been made and sold. I am now ready to present this new style of versatile, durable quilt to the market.

The Colby Creations Denim Quilts are machine stitched and finished with standard or extra loft batting and Timberjack Chamois flannel backing. They are hand tied using an invisible knot (No tie ends). The workmanship is excellent. All of the denim with the exception of the white is recycled from jeans of every brand for an astounding variety of color and visual texture. They are entirely washable. The current selection of quilts are a monochromatic color scheme, blues and white. I have also combined black, gray, and white, and red with blues. I do have an increasing collection of colors, which are waiting for an inspirational pattern. Each winter I make from 6 to 12 new quilts.

Each of the quilts is a unique variation of an old pattern, a picture, or uniquely my design. All of the patterns are personally specifically designed for denim. Each quilt uses an average of 15 pairs of jeans. The basic uncomplicated pattern, 70" x 90" quilt, takes a minimum of 40 hours of labor, from disassembling the jeans to finishing the binding. The most sophisticated designs take 80 hours or more. The quality of workmanship is excellent.

Colby Creations Denim Quilts are an exceptional gift for children. They will endure the rough and tumble, spills and dirt, and make the chore of making their bed easy. They keep their good looks for years of every day use. They are heavy and warm, great for snuggling down on chilly evenings, or at the football or soccer game. I have incorporated school colors for the Chamois flannel backing and could do something with the school colors in denim. A 70"x 90" quilt generously covers a twin size bed.
